The Surrey Police Service (SPS) has confirmed it is investigating another extortion related shooting at a business in the city’s Newton neighbourhood, marking the third targeted incident against the owner and their operation since October.

Police responded to reports of damage at a commercial property, identified by sources as the Starbody shop, located in the vicinity of 82 Avenue near 124 Street on Thursday.

In a statement SPS said that “at approximately 3:30 am on December 11, 2025, suspect(s) attended a business in the area of 82 Avenue and 124 Street, Surrey. Once on scene, a suspect fired multiple shots at the business and then fled the area in a dark coloured vehicle. Nobody was in the business at the time of the shooting and there were no injuries as a result. This is the second time that the business has been targeted in a shooting.”

“At approximately 7:45 am, an employee of the business arrived on scene and observed the damage. SPS was subsequently contacted and officers attended;” SPS added.

SPS Organized Crime Unit (OCU) has taken conduct of the investigation. SPS claimed that at this time, the incident is believed to be related to the ongoing series of extortions in Surrey.

This attack represents an unsettling escalation. It is the second time this year that the autobody shop itself has been targeted with gunfire, and the third overall incident directed at the business owner.

The Starbody shop was previously hit in early October when police responded to reports of damage caused by shots fired overnight at the location. Further deepening the pattern of intimidation, the residence of the business owner was also targeted in a separate incident on October 30th. Following these two suspects were arrested but they were released by the police.

In the initial investigation, the SPS confirmed no one was injured. The initial targeted incidents were part of extortion.

The SPS continues to investigate all three incidents and is urging anyone with information related to the ongoing violence in the area of 82 Avenue and 124 Street to come forward.
