Today, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the seizure of 209 kilograms of opium from an inbound shipping container at the Burnaby Container Examination Facility.
On March 26, 2025, CBSA border officers, assisted by the agency’s Detector Dog Team, inspected a container arriving from the United Arab Emirates. The container had been flagged and referred to officers by CBSA intelligence from the National Targeting unit.
As part of a $1.3 billion investment, more than $355 million will be allocated to strengthen CBSA’s frontline operations and provide advanced tools and technology to intercept drugs and firearms.
