Canada is set to face Qatar, Switzerland, and the winner of a European playoff—contested by Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales, and Bosnia and Herzegovina—at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The group-stage schedule was unveiled Friday during a high-profile draw in Washington, D.C., attended by world leaders, soccer icons, and celebrities. Canada will open its campaign in Toronto on June 12 against the European playoff winner. The team will then travel to Vancouver to meet Qatar on June 18, before staying in the city to take on Switzerland on June 24.
If Canada tops its group, it will remain in Vancouver for both the round of 32 and the round of 16. A second-place finish would also secure advancement. Canada could even progress with a strong third-place finish, as the top eight third-place teams will qualify for the round of 32.
