Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) executed a search warrant at a residential property on 144 Street and 82 Avenue in Surrey this Friday morning, prompting a large police presence and road closures in the area.

Multiple police vehicles were reported on the scene since the morning hours, with eyewitnesses confirming that roads leading to the residence were temporarily blocked by AbbyPD units. The operation involved specialized units, including the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team (ERT) and a Canine Unit.

In a statement, Sergeant Paul Walker confirmed the nature of the operation.

“Currently, AbbyPD is executing a property crime related search warrant at a residence in the area with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team,” Sgt. Walker said. “This warrant service connects to an investigation here in Abbotsford.”

Sgt. Walker was also quick to address public speculation, ruling out a connection to other major regional issues. “This investigation is not extortion related,” he confirmed.

As of Friday afternoon, police had not provided specific details regarding any arrests made or the recovery of any property or evidence from the residence. The operation remains ongoing.
