Police presence increased at 3 Nanaimo high schools following threat

Police have increased their presence at three local high schools in Nanaimo, B.C., after receiving a “threat.”

In a news release, RCMP stated that police visibility would be enhanced at Dover, Wellington, and Nanaimo District secondary schools starting Monday.

Police emphasize that their presence at the schools is strictly precautionary, and classes are expected to proceed as normal.

The RCMP also confirmed that the schools will remain open to the public.
