An ongoing drug-trafficking investigation in Prince George led to the seizure of seven firearms, including a prohibited weapon, from a local residence on Sunday.

The Prince George RCMP detachment said in a news release on Tuesday that a cache of weapons was seized from a residence in the 7100-block of Guelph Crescent on Sunday as part of an ongoing drug-trafficking investigation.

Police stated that investigators determined the risk to the public was high enough that the regional emergency response team was deployed to assist in executing the search warrant.

According to the release, seven guns, including one prohibited weapon, were seized, along with evidence of drug trafficking.

“The removal of firearms out of the hands of those who are part of the criminal landscape represents a positive enhancement to public safety,” said Insp. Chris Riddle in a statement.

No arrests were announced in connection with the seizure. Police confirmed that the original drug-trafficking investigation remains ongoing.
