Police in Abbotsford are investigating a shooting that occurred in the city’s West Clearbrook neighbourhood overnight, which authorities believe was a targeted incident linked to an ongoing extortion investigation.
The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) responded to reports of shots fired outside a home on 2500 block of Janzen Street near South Fraser Way around 3:43 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said in a statement upon arrival, officers discovered that two unoccupied vehicles parked in a residential driveway had been struck by gunfire.
Police confirmed that the occupants inside the home, who were asleep at the time, were unharmed.
The AbbyPD has described the incident as targeted.
The area is experiencing traffic disruptions, as certain roads have been closed while police conduct their investigation. The AbbyPD is asking the public for assistance.
