An 8-year-old girl has died after falling from the balcony of a high-rise building in Vancouver

An eight-year-old girl died Tuesday after falling from a high-rise balcony in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighborhood. 

According to a statement from the Vancouver Police Department, officers responded to a call around 2:30 p.m. at a building near Nelson Street and Expo Boulevard. 

“The child fell from an upper balcony. Despite emergency medical efforts by first responders, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said. 

The Major Crimes Section is leading the investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact police at 604-717-2500.
