The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced a major drug seizure at Vancouver International Airport in British Columbia.

On September 3, 2025, CBSA officers intercepted a shipment containing a total of 560 kilograms of narcotics — 319 kilograms of cocaine hidden in 300 compressed powder bricks and 241 kilograms of methamphetamine packed in 110 vacuum-sealed bags.

The drugs were concealed in a shipment of car parts bound for Australia. The substances were handed over to the RCMP, and the investigation is ongoing.

This operation marks one of the largest narcotics seizures for export ever made at Vancouver International Airport.

Statements from officials:

Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Public Safety:
“This is a clear example of the CBSA’s vital work in disrupting organized crime and securing our borders. I’ve seen firsthand the dedication of CBSA officers at Vancouver International Airport. Their efforts are protecting Canadians and communities around the world.”

Nina Patel, Regional Director General, CBSA Pacific Region:
“This seizure prevented millions of dollars from reaching criminal organizations and highlights the strong cooperation between CBSA and law enforcement partners. Our officers work tirelessly to stop dangerous drugs from crossing our borders.”

Stephen Lee, Acting Regional Commander, RCMP Federal Policing (Pacific Region):
“This successful operation demonstrates the power of teamwork. From detection to seizure and investigation, CBSA and RCMP officers worked seamlessly to dismantle criminal networks exploiting our borders. We will continue these efforts to keep our communities safe.”

The Canadian government is investing $1.3 billion to enhance border security, strengthen the immigration system, and protect Canadians.
