Two Arrested After Overnight Extortion-Linked Shooting in Surrey

In a major breakthrough, the Surrey Police Service (SPS) has arrested two men following an overnight shooting linked to extortion, in which a residence sustained significant damage from gunfire.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. on October 30, 2025, when SPS officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired near 56 Avenue and King George Boulevard in Surrey. “Upon arrival, officers confirmed the exterior of the home had sustained damage from gunshots. Although several people were inside the residence at the time of the shooting, no injuries were reported,” SPS said in a statement.

SPS Frontline members quickly located a suspect vehicle a short distance away, leading to the arrest of two men. Both suspects were transported to SPS cells pending further investigation. The SPS Frontline Investigative Support (FLIS) Team assisted in the scene analysis, and the BC Extortion Task Force has now taken over the investigation.

When RedFM reached the scene, members of the BC Extortion Task Force were already investigating the area. Neighbours described the event as a “horrific incident.” Speaking to RedFM, residents shared that they were asleep when the shooting occurred. At first, they mistook the sound for a tire burst but soon realized, after hearing continuous gunfire, that their neighbour’s house was under attack.

One of the neighbours said they immediately called 911 to report the incident. Police advised them to stay indoors for their safety. The shaken residents expressed deep concern about the rising violence in the area, with one neighbour saying they regretted moving to Canada because of the growing sense of insecurity.

According to Surrey Police, as of Monday, October 27, there have been 74 reported extortion cases in the city this year, 39 of which involved shootings.

This latest act of violence highlights the urgent and escalating nature of extortion-related crime in Surrey, much of which has been linked to organized crime groups targeting local businesses and residents particularly within the South Asian community.
