Authorities have renewed their call for information about an 11-year-old boy missing from B.C.’s Lower Mainland, who may be in the care of an unidentified adult.

According to the RCMP, the disappearance of Kai Pavlovic does not currently meet the criteria for an Amber Alert. However, anyone with knowledge of his location is urged to contact police immediately.

Burnaby RCMP discovered that Kai was missing on September 26, after officers were asked to perform a wellness check at his home.

In a news release issued Thursday, investigators said they have spoken with Kai’s relatives and now have reason to believe he is staying with a caretaker whose identity they are still working to confirm.

“We believe some individuals know who this caretaker is and where they might be,” said Cpl. Laura Hirst. “We’re appealing to them to come forward and speak with police. Our top priority is to locate Kai and ensure his safety.”

Police also released several new photos of Kai, along with a statement from his family describing him as “bright, curious, and outgoing.”

“He loves climbing trees, building forts, and learning to sail,” the family said. “He’s a friend to all animals—especially horses, cats, and dogs. Kai’s family in New Zealand loves him dearly.”

Authorities said they have been working tirelessly to find the boy and are asking the public to remain alert for any sightings.

Kai Pavlovic is described as approximately 5 feet tall, with a slim build and brown hair.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or their local police department.
