British Columbia house leader Mike Farnworth announced that the NDP government plans to pass 18 bills during the fall session of the legislature. The main focus of this session will be on growing the economy, protecting health care, and dealing with issues of affordability and good governance.

Farnworth noted that one of the bills will enable B-C Hydro’s planned North Coast Transmission Line between Prince George and Terrace.

He also confirmed that the government will not reintroduce elements of a previous bill—proposed in response to American tariffs—that had faced criticism over granting the government power to revise B-C laws and regulations through orders-in-council.

The opening day of the fall session next week is expected to coincide with a rally by striking members of the B-C General Employees’ Union.
