Mounties in North Vancouver say they caught a motorcyclist traveling at double the speed limit Sunday night.

Police reported that the vehicle was allegedly going 180 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 1 near the Mountain Highway exit. The driver was issued a ticket for excessive speed and a citation for failing to produce a driver’s license and insurance papers.

In a social media post, North Vancouver RCMP wrote, “They walked away alive, but with $645 in fines.”

The police department added a safety message, “Speeding like this puts everyone at risk. Slow down and get home safe.”
