Nearly 1.4 million toaster ovens are being recalled in Canada and the U.S. due to a burn hazard.

The recall, announced Thursday, affects “Oster French Door Toaster Countertop Ovens,” which have spring-loaded glass doors with metal handles. Health Canada warned that the doors can unexpectedly close, posing a burn risk to users.

Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled ovens immediately and contact Oster for a free repair kit. According to Oster’s parent company, Newell Brands, the recall involves 104,195 units sold in Canada and 1,290,000 in the U.S. between January 2015 and July 2025.

While no injuries have been reported in Canada, there have been at least 95 burn incidents in the U.S., including two cases of second-degree burns requiring medical treatment. Oster stated that most injuries were similar to typical kitchen burns from common appliances.

The company is providing a free repair kit with a clip-on device to keep the doors securely open during use but is not offering refunds or replacements.

The recall covers four models: TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDGDS, TSSTTVFDXLPP-033, and TSSTTVFDDAF-033, which can be found on the back of the oven. Both analogue and digital versions are affected, all marked with the “Oster” brand name on the front.

More information is available on Health Canada’s recall notice or at recall.oster.com, or by calling 1-800-667-8623. Repair kits are expected to start shipping in November.
