Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke today about the devastating impact of the war in Ukraine on its children, stating that losing a child is every parent’s worst nightmare, and for the people of Ukraine, it has become a horrifying reality.

Co-chairing an event at the United Nations, Carney said that during the more than three-year war in Europe, thousands of children have been abducted by Russia, and many have been killed in attacks.

Carney placed the blame squarely on Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him the person responsible for the atrocities.

Putin is currently wanted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague on a warrant issued in March 2023 for his alleged involvement in the abduction of Ukrainian children.
