In a shocking incident in Surrey, a vehicle was stolen from the secure underground parking of an apartment building located near 142 Street and 103A Avenue. The theft occurred despite the area being accessible only through fobs and security access, raising serious questions about safety and surveillance in residential complexes.

The incident took place on August 21, 2025, when a son and his mother were about to head out for grocery shopping in the evening. Upon reaching the basement, they were shocked to find that their car was missing. They immediately reported the theft to Surrey RCMP and ICBC.

Four days later, on August 25, the family received a message from Surrey Police informing them that the vehicle had been recovered in Cloverdale, and they were directed to Clover Towing to collect it.

However, what awaited them was far worse than they expected.

Upon arriving at the tow yard, the family was shocked to see the condition of the car and what was found inside. According to them, the vehicle contained many items that did not belong to them including, a sharp-edged knife, multiple bags of clothing and safety jacket, suspicious powdered substance, which the family believes may have been some kind of illicit drug.

Despite repeated attempts to contact Surrey Police at the scene, they received no meaningful response. According to the family, they were told to simply dispose of the items themselves and go home. In addition to the emotional distress, the financial burden was heavy on the family with hundred of dollars of mechanic and repair fees plus towing charges.

The mother and son are now living in fear and stress, expressing that they no longer feel safe in their own building.

During Red FM’s interview with the family, another resident came forward and revealed that someone had recently attempted to steal his car from the same basement — the act was caught on dashcam, but he says police did not respond. Additionally, another resident’s Honda Civic was stolen, indicating that this is not an isolated incident.

Residents of the apartment complex are alarmed and concerned that the criminals may gain access to their homes next. Many feel that their safety is at risk, and that authorities are not doing enough. These incidents are contributing to a growing sense of fear and insecurity among Surrey residents, who are now demanding stronger action from law enforcement to ensure community safety.

RED FM has reached out to Surrey Police regarding this incident and at the time of publishing no response had been received. This story will be updated as soon as any response or further information is received from the police.
