Environment Canada has issued a multi-day heat warning for several parts of southern B.C., with temperatures in some regions expected to climb above 30 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather agency, the Fraser Canyon and South Thompson regions could see temperatures spike as high as 39 degrees Celsius starting Monday. For the next three to five days, the high daytime temperatures will be followed by overnight lows of 18 degrees Celsius. The warning covers the southern and northern regions, from Lillooet to Lytton.
The inland sections of the central coast and areas of the northern coast, including Terrace and Kitimat, will see daytime temperatures reach as high as 29 degrees Celsius until mid-week. The weather agency says overnight temperatures will dip to lows of 13 degrees Celsius.
Environment Canada stated on Monday that “a ridge of high pressure over B.C. is bringing elevated temperatures to the region through to mid-week.”
