A 21-year-old man is facing charges after his Tesla crashed into a power pole early Friday morning in Abbotsford.
According to the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD), officers spotted the Tesla speeding on Bourquin Crescent West from Mill Lake Road just after midnight. Moments later, they came across the crash site on George Ferguson Way.
In a statement, the AbbyPD said, “The 21-year-old driver was arrested at the scene for Dangerous Driving and is now facing a court date. Two passengers were detained but later released. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.”
The crash knocked out power to more than 600 residents, police said. BC Hydro crews are currently working to restore service.
The police department also noted, “So far this year, AbbyPD officers have removed 282 excessive speeders from Abbotsford roads.”
