A man wanted for sexual assault and other serious charges has been arrested in British Columbia and sent back to Ontario to face trial.
Authorities stated that on July 22, Kelowna RCMP located an individual wanted on an Ontario criminal warrant. Working in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ontario Crown Attorney’s Office, the BC RCMP Fugitive Return Program extended the Ontario warrants to B.C.
They added that with the cooperation of Kelowna RCMP, the BC Prosecution Service, and the BC Sheriff Service, the individual was successfully apprehended and returned to Ontario for prosecution.
The suspect, 54-year-old Stefan Holowaychuk, is facing charges of sexual assault, forcible confinement, assault, and overcoming resistance by attempting to choke.
Holowaychuk was held in custody and transported back to Ontario on July 27, 2025. The BC Sheriff Service facilitated his return to Ontario.
