Surrey council to vote on $16 million road improvement contract

Surrey Council is set to vote today on a nearly $16 million construction contract for significant street improvements. The proposed work includes upgrades to 192 Street between 16 Avenue and 28 Avenue, as well as preloading for the 72 Avenue extension between 152 Street and Bear Creek.

A corporate report by Scott Neuman, Surrey’s General Manager of Engineering, recommends awarding B&B Heavy Civil Construction Ltd. a contract worth $15,892,600 for the project, with a spending limit capped at $17,482,000.

Additionally, Neuman has recommended a $249,740.40 contract be awarded to Aplin Martin Consultants Ltd. for engineering construction services related to the preloading for the first phase of the 72 Avenue extension. The spending limit for this specific contract is set at $274,000.00.
