Authorities in Langley, B.C., report that a 25-year-old woman has been charged following an assault that resulted in another woman being hospitalized with “severe burns.”

Police had previously stated that officers responded to a report of a woman in distress around 6:35 p.m. on Saturday along a commercial stretch of the Fraser Highway near the city’s downtown core. The 33-year-old victim’s injuries were caused by exposure to an “unknown substance,” according to police.

The RCMP confirmed that the incident occurred at the transit bus loop near 204 Street and Logan Avenue. Officers located and arrested the 25-year-old suspect on Wednesday.

She has been charged with aggravated assault and remains in custody pending her next court appearance. Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the attack to contact the detachment.
