The B.C. Green Party has announced that Adam Bremner-Akins is the third candidate to enter the race for the party’s 2025 leadership. Bremner-Akins is a political science student, environmentalist, and lifelong resident of British Columbia. A member of the party for eight years, he previously ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the provincial legislature.

According to his profile on the party’s website, Bremner-Akins is in his final year of political science studies at Simon Fraser University. He currently splits his time between working for the B.C. Greens, a job at a restaurant, and helping out on his family’s farm.

The other two candidates in the race are Jonathan Kerr, a physician and Comox town councillor, and Emily Lowan, an advocate for climate justice and Indigenous solidarity.

The three are running to succeed Sonia Furstenau, who led the party since 2020 but stepped down after losing her seat in the last provincial election. The party has scheduled a town hall for next month and a debate in September, with voting set to begin on September 13.
