Health Canada Issues Nationwide Recall of Deuter Micro Star Children’s Sleeping Bags Over Suffocation Risk
Health Canada has issued a nationwide recall of Deuter Micro Star children’s sleeping bags due to a potential risk of suffocation.
The agency is urging consumers to immediately stop using the affected products and return them to the original retailer.
“Under certain conditions, a child may be able to slip entirely into the Micro Star sleeping bag, creating a potential risk of suffocation,” the recall notice, issued Monday, stated.
The recalled products include:
Micro Star sleeping bag in wave nightblue (Item No. 3722025-1399)
Micro Star sleeping bag in spearmint seagreen (Item No. 3722025-2293)
Micro Star sleeping bag in amber maple (Item No. 3722025-9908)
As of June 24, no injuries or incidents related to the products have been reported in Canada, according to the company.
Approximately 70 units of the affected sleeping bags were sold in Canada between April and May 2025.
This recall follows similar actions taken in Germany and France, where the European Commission issued a safety alert noting the same suffocation risks.
According to the European alert, the stretchy neck area of the sleeping bag may expand, allowing a child to slide inside completely and suffocate. Additionally, the hood design may cover the child’s nose or mouth, further increasing the risk.
