New Westminster police arrested a man for attacking strangers on the road with a tree branch at Uptown.
New Westminster Police Department is asking for witnesses and encouraging victims to come forward after an incident in the Uptown neighborhood on the evening of Saturday, at approximately 6:20 pm.
Police said that “the officers responded to reports of a man chasing people and throwing objects at members of the public. Witnesses stated the man broke off a tree branch and struck several people with it.”
“The officers located the suspect near the New Westminster Public Library and arrested him,” police added.
“This may have been a frightening experience for those who witnessed it or were directly impacted,” said Sergeant Andrew Leaver. “We want to ensure that victims are connected to support and that witnesses know we’re here to listen.”
