A dispute outside a Surrey home on Saturday night quickly escalated to violence, resulting in gunfire that damaged the residence and the swift arrest of a suspect.
Surrey Police Service (SPS) said that it has arrested and charged one man in connection with a shooting incident outside a residence in Surrey on Saturday night.
Police said in a statement the incident occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. on October 26, when SPS officers responded to calls of shots fired in the 14100 block of 72 Avenue. The shooting reportedly followed an alleged dispute between several people.
“SPS officers quickly arrived on the scene and arrested a suspect who was still present. While no one was injured, the exterior of the residence sustained damage from several gunshots,” SPS officers said.
The arrested man, David Bruce Baxter, a 46-year-old, has been formally charged with attempted murder using a firearm and discharging a firearm at a residence.
Police said David Baxter remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.
The SPS confirmed that specific details of the case cannot be released as the matter is now before the courts. However, police confirmed that the incident is not related to extortion.
