The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced a significant narcotics seizure following a targeted operation at a Metro Vancouver marine terminal. More than 26 kilograms of cocaine were discovered hidden within a commercial shipping container originating from Colombia.

On October 31, CBSA officers from the Metro Vancouver Marine Operations conducted a thorough inspection of a sea container at the Tsawwassen Container Examination Facility (TCEF).

The shipment had been officially declared as boxes of frozen fruit. However, during the examination, officers utilized the Detector Dog Service to pinpoint anomalies within the container’s structure.

Upon closer physical inspection, officers discovered 23 “bricks” of suspected cocaine. The narcotics had been cleverly concealed within the roof area of the container. In total, authorities seized 26.2 kilograms of cocaine.

The seized narcotics have been turned over to the RCMP Federal Policing Pacific Region, specifically the Drugs and Organized Crime unit, for further investigation.

“This seizure demonstrates the diligence of our officers in protecting our borders and keeping dangerous drugs out of our communities,” a representative noted regarding the operation. Law enforcement is currently working to identify the organized crime networks involved in the attempted smuggling operation.
