The Surrey Police Service (SPS) has publicly identified 22-year-old Lovebir Singh, a foreign national who was recently deported from Canada following an intensive investigation into a string of violent extortion cases plaguing the region. By releasing his photograph, authorities are appealing to the public for any information regarding Singh’s associates and his criminal activities during his time in the country.

Lovebir Singh arrived in Canada as a foreign national during the fall of 2023. According to the SPS, he was identified in early 2026 as a primary suspect allegedly involved in organized extortion schemes. Following a collaborative effort, the SPS shared intelligence with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), which launched an immigration investigation. This process ultimately led to Singh’s deportation on the grounds of organized criminality.

Investigators believe that making Singh’s identity public will encourage witnesses, victims, or former associates to come forward. The goal is to gather further evidence that could help dismantle the violent criminal networks behind these extortions. To incentivize cooperation, authorities reminded the public of the Surrey Extortion Reward Fund, established in September 2025, which offers up to $250,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for these crimes.

Accompanying the appeal for information, the SPS launched a new data dashboard on its website to track the ongoing crisis. The statistics reveal a troubling trend in Surrey:

Since the beginning of this year 56 extortion cases have been reported, which include 11 related to shooting incidents, and 32 victims (18 of whom were targeted multiple times).

In 2025 a total of 133 reported cases, which include 49 related to shootings, involving 88 victims, 37 of whom were repeat targets.

The CBSA is also ramping up its enforcement in coordination with British Columbia’s specialized extortion task force. Currently, the agency is investigating 296 foreign nationals for “potential inadmissibility” due to suspected links to these criminal networks. To date, the CBSA has issued 32 removal orders, with 10 individuals having already been deported from Canada.

Anyone with information regarding Lovebir Singh or related extortion activities is urged to contact the SPS non-emergency line, the Surrey Extortion Tip Line, or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
